HELIX

Helix is one of Canada's longest serving hard rock/heavy metal bands, established in 1974 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Over the past 40 years they've earned themselves four gold and two platinum albums, had a Number One album in Sweden (Long Way to Heaven) and toured the world with over two hundred of the biggest names in rock-KISS, Motorhead, Heart, Meatloaf, Motley Crue, etc. HELIX has toured the following countries: Canada, The U.S.A., England, Scotland, France, Austria, Germany (East & West!), Luxomburg, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Holland, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Finland, and Trinidad. On their last visit to Europe in 2011 they played the Sweden Rock Boat Cruise with fellow Canadians ANVIL, and they headlined the "Legends of Rock Festival" in Oulu, Finland with TNT.

In 2013 the band kicked off the year playing the Monsters of Rock Boat Cruise from Fort Lauderdale to The Bahamas with some of the greatest 80's metal bands in the world-Saxon, Tesla, Great White, Lita Ford, Queensryke, Loudness, The Quior Boys, and over 20 others. From Florida & the Bahamas the band traveled to western Canada in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains for a four day run of casinos, right in the middle of the biggest flood in Alberta history! In June they headlined SABSTOCK in Pembroke, Ontario, followed by ROCK THE PARK in London, Ontario where they opened for old friends Whitesnake and Journey. The band ended their summer in Brandon, Manitoba with one of the biggest new Canadian bands to ever grace the cover of Rolling Stones Magazine-The Sheepdogs-to over 2,000 fans at ROCK THE BLOCK. In December HELIX will be performing across Southern Ontario. 2014 kicked off at Casino New Brunswick, in Moncton, New Brunswick with a sold out show of 1,800 with Honeymoon Suite. Upcoming dates include a 3 day mini tour of Spain in May (Barcelona/Pamplona/Madrid) RIBFEST in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, U.S.A. with Loverboy/April Wine & Honeyoon Suite and dates already booked up into August with fellow Canadian rockers Trooper, followed the very next week with dates in Alberta. Brian will also be performing on May 10th at Toronto's Opera House with Lee Aaron, Darby Mills of the Headpins, Nick Walsh of Slic Toxic, Russel Graham of The Killer Dwarfs, and Carl Dixon of Coney Hatch in support of "Metal on Ice".

The 2014 line-up of the band includes original members Daryl Gray/bass, Greg "Fritz" Hinz/percussion, and Brian Vollmer/vocals plus newcomers Kaleb Duck and Chris Julke on guitars. Original guitarist Paul Hackman was killed in a van accident coming back from tour in 1992 and Brent Doerner retired from touring in 2012. He is still involved with the band in a video making capacity.

NEW RELEASES: HELIX continues to release CDs on a yearly basis, their latest being "Skin in the Game" written by Brian Vollmer (lead singer) and Sean Kelly (guitarist for Nelly Furtado, Carl Dixon, Carol Pope, and several more high profile Canadian artists. Sean also plays bass for Gilby Clark of G& R). Presently they are working on their 13th studio CD: BASTARD OF THE BLUES which will be released by Perris Records in the U.S. and Europe.
